Why Should I Bother Practicing Rudiments?
the Power Center Reverse Dot seems to pick up the natural harmonics the best
I leave my Moongels on all the time, and can appreciate that the Evan’s ones are sticky only on one side. And if they are cut in half, there’s allot of gels for the money. Fantastic product!
When you buy some new drums they have Remo UTs and they sound bad.
The Evans heads sound better to me.
Best video for me ❤️
It does work, depending on the material the head is made of. for example it works perfectly with Remo Ebony, but not at all with Evans Onyx.
Emeizing😮
Just got this very drum, absolutely STELLAR. WORTHEVERY PENNY! But soooo friggin HEAVY
Ec2s round out the tone and making it sound full. The g2s are nice but ec2s have that low end
So is that a thing of iron cobras to do a metallic clicking sound on each stroke? Mine does it too and i hate it.
Still got my 20+ year old Alpha hats
Sehr cooler Typ... sehr gut erklärt. Bin zwar noch Anfänger aber bin begeistert von diesem Video. Greets from Germany 😊😊
Hey guys, wondering why the Vic Firth Rute 606s weren't in this video - they don't have the silly handle like the rutes you used do!
What kind of key do I need to adjust my foot pedal?
I like and have a Tama silver star (birch) , but the Ash is the best one.
I rarely comment on UA-cam videos more than once but i really wanna stress how valuable this lesson is. You guys literally covered every tiniest thing about this technique that we need to know: the hand technique, the mechanics, the examples,... all of them are super clear and detailed. Thanks so much for this top tier lesson!
I could hear that punchy 20” bass drum!
Which he would stop playing the snare to really hear the bass.
Your advice about the "center" instantly improved my simple 4/4 time roll around my 4 piece kit. I have such a long way to go but you helped me solve one mystery,,,thank you. Back to practice!
Evans, because the consistency of the quality. with Remo’s i had lots of problems
I've been playing Yamaha Stage Custom since 95. On my 3rd kit...and I always get compliments on the sound from fellow players, band mates, and sound techs. If you want to spend many thousands on a kit, thats your choice...and your bank account. Its cpmpletely unnecessary!!!!
This is the moeller technique
Thx, newbie learning. Very useful!!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
prefer the remo but litle bit lower tuned
Thanks so much for sharing this!! Blessings!!!
Thank you
Man thanks for sharing this!! Im just now studying latin grooves to have more to bring to the table and widen my over all ability on the kit. You're a great player!! This one is gonna take me some time. Thanks again!!!
You got this!
I learned on ziligian and played them for many years, but now im switching to meinl. Im just tired of all the zildjian fanatics out there. They're like ford guys and i hate ford. Honestly ziligian isnt as innovative as the other companies. They just keep banking on the guys buying their k series.
They all sound great in their own way. The only thing I really noticed, is that the crash cymbal sounds less explosive on the EAD10. Probably because it is far from the mic or partially blocked by the tom.
Ty! Just started drums, got my first drum set, setting it up. This will help tons.
Great to hear!
The science is extremely ignorant here, this particular tom already has a restricted shell with all that hardware attached; mostly decorative. Then again, people need to make money from selling shitey products. The planer the shell, the better the resonance.
All sound the same...
Tape sounded best
Where's my guy with the time stamps? 22 vs fully modded 18 seems very similar. 18 is toight
Sounded better IMHO before you moved the mic into the drum. Gave the sound some length. With other instruments the mic-inside variant would sound completely dead. If the tone is too long it can be shortened in post, but that's better than trying to actually ADD tone (I wouldn't, surely there are limits). Anyway YMMV and thx for the comparison!
Standard or fusions for remo heads?!
Just buy a quality drum kit. Don’t skimp. Save up. Just do it. You can’t go wrong with any wood. Super pro tip. Once the music cranks up, you can’t tell the difference
It's crazy but I preffer the first drum kit with stock heads. Beautiful open sound.
The Golden rule is "follow your weiner" The center is straight over the center of the snare, why do you keep putting that arrow over the hi-hat? That's as offset to the left as the kick is to the right.
Hi, would you mind letting me know what the product is that you’re using around your porthole? I’ve used the bass drum O’s on an 18” Yamaha Stage Custom bass drum, and unfortunately it now produces a horrible rattling sound when the beater strikes the batter side. I’m hoping by removing and replacing the O’s with something else, I can fix the problem.
Your set sounds awesome! Nice set up, and miking; really appreciate it as a soundguy!
Much appreciated!
There is no dampening in a remo pinstripe. More to it than that.
The Remos are definitely a more wide open sound perfect for jazz settings or a more vintage sound all together. Those Evans though man the tone quality and the control is just unmatched and I’m listening to this through a Bose system
I've tried a bunch of combinations of top/bottom heads in my studio. I keep returning to properly tuned Ambassador white coated tops and clear bottoms on all Tom's. No pinstripes or crap.
Great and informative vid! I’ve been drumming for 20 years, but you would never know it, especially when you hear my loosy goose and sloppy bass drum :(. Can you please outline the best adjustments for someone who has a hard time getting that quick Double, i.e. slide or heel toe technique, is it better to have more spring tension less spring tension, which cam would you recommend, where would best adjustment for the beater to be
That's very cool, there's actually a clear improvement in sound. Bravo, guys!
Nice ,that is great info
Glad it was helpful!
The best kit I ever owned was a 7 piece from a little known brand called Drum World UK and the complete kit with hardware (including 3 boom cymbal stands) was about £800, and it looked and sounded amazing. I only sold it eventually because I was broke!
Ooh, if you want a good song to practice your hi-hat barks (and dont mind some curse words) then Only by Nine Inch Nails is a great song to drum to!
I love his explanations… I loves me a matched grip rudimental drum corp influenced player…
